I Lost My Motivation. (And The Start of Something New!)

Yep, you read that right. The person who has spent over a year creating content on motivation, has no motivation. But, I’ve decided to do something about that.

Why Do I Have No Motivation?

As I’ve experienced many times, and I’m sure you have too, motivation is one of those things that comes and goes. Keeping motivation levels high requires conscious effort. It is almost like a skill, the more you practice the easier it gets. And, well, I haven’t been practising.

The beginning of 2021 saw a big significant life change happen for me and I’ve spent the past two months adapting to it. I’m all okay, nothing serious in that sense thankfully, but it has still completely thrown me off the motivation horse. This then paired with a pandemic meant that I’ve been on hold for two months now.

I haven’t written blog posts consistently for months, I haven’t uploaded a YouTube video and I lost touch with streaming. Even things I enjoy and care about, I just haven’t been able to find it within me to do. I even found myself tweeting less and that is how you know something needs to be done as I enjoy nothing more than tweeting utter crap.

But, it is important to remember that, as with skills, they are muscle memory. Once you’ve established it once, it is easier to find it again. And that is what I’m going to do.

Millie’s Motivational March

I spent some time thinking to myself, when would be the best time to make these changes? The answer to that question is always now. If there is something that you have been wanting to do for ages, just get up and go do it now. But, that didn’t sound too good in a series title, and so, Millie’s Motivational March was born!

Millie’s Motivational March will have a YouTube video up every Sunday at 10am and a blog post every Monday at 10am. Same days, same times and same places every week to help both me and you add a bit more to our motivation pot and get ready for the week ahead.

These blog posts and videos will be on various aspects of motivations and linked together. The difference is that the YouTube videos will concentrate more on my personal journey and the blog posts will be more theory based. I’m even bringing back the ‘Science Behind Motivation‘ series!

I’m really excited to create content and get my motivation back again. The other half of my blog concentrates on fitness and I haven’t worked out properly in months either. The runs and home workouts are calling my name again and, as hard as it will be at first, I’ve got this (and so do you)!

In fact, as you are reading this, my first YouTube video is already live on my channel!

What About You?

How is your motivation standing right now? If you’re unsure, use this as a sign to take a moment to ask yourself how you are doing. We are living through tricky times right now and if you feel like you need a bit of a boost then you are in the right place!

Let me know in the comments below what you are going to work on during March and I look forward to seeing you back here next Monday!

Till next time my friends!
